Keynote Speaker
William McDonough

Internationally renowned architectural designer William McDonough delivered the keynote address at this year's conference. In a thought-provoking presentation, McDonough brought his highly acclaimed and environmentally centered approach to the arena of laboratory design.

In 1999, Time magazine recognized him as a 'Hero for the Planet' stating that "his utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that—in demonstrable and practical ways—is changing the design of the world." McDonough became the only individual in 1996 to receive the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development, the nation's highest environmental honor. He is also the founding principal of William McDonough + Partners, Architecture and Community Design,an internationally recognized design firm practicing ecologically, socially, and economically intelligent architecture and planning in the United States and abroad.
