Managing Contamination Risk - A Look at Building Design and HVAC Systems

Ensuring a secure, safe facility can be challenging, especially in the face of complex interactions related to mechanical systems, construction, and design. This half-day workshop explored the limitations associated with design and HVAC systems in protecting occupants in the event of the release of a chemical or biological agent and how such practices meet the goals of Labs21. Issues related to the physical and human response characteristics of various chemical and biological agents were also presented.

This workshop, which was presented by Virginia Tech and North Carolina A&T, was first offered as a symposium at the Labs21 2006 Annual Conference and was so successful that it was provided as a 2007 pre-conference workshop event.
