Roll Up Your Sleeves Roundtable
LEED Cost Analysis
Bruce Haxton, MHTN Architects
As the push for greener buildings continues, our nation is seeing increased pressure to design new and retrofit buildings to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Deign (LEED®) certification. However, a common misconception among high-tech building professionals is that achieving LEED status—even the lowest possible certification level—can be a costly undertaking and often not within a project's budget. The EarlyEco© software program, developed by MHTN Architects Inc., serves to eliminate this concern by providing a cost analysis based on LEED credits. The program, tailored to each specific project, facility, and budget, breaks down the cost per LEED credit, cost per square foot, relative first cost, annual savings, simple payback in years, LEED-related professional design fees, and total approximate cost. This cost-per-sustainable-unit allows the project team to identify the most cost-effective LEED credits for the site and client, while maximizing the building's sustainability and performance.
During this Roll Up Your Sleeves Roundtable session, Bruce Haxton will provide a demonstration of the EarlyEco software, using real projects and building data to generate a LEED cost analysis.
