Ongoing Commissioning – A Case Study of a Building at Genzyme

David Landman, Cimetrics
Steve Driver, Genzyme

Genzyme has pioneered the development and delivery of transformative therapies for over 30 years. Founded in 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts, Genzyme evolved from a tiny start-up with just a handful of employees to one of the world's leading biotech companies. Acquired by Sanofi in 2011, Genzyme now benefits from the reach and resources of one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, with a shared commitment to improving the lives of patients. Genzyme's roots are in the Boston area: headquarters, Genzyme Center, is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, home to venerable universities, teaching hospitals, and a thriving biotechnology community with a large campus in Framingham, MA In 2009, Genzyme contracted with Cimetrics to provide ongoing commissioning service called Infometrics for its first building. Currently more than 10 buildings are being monitored. Infometrics is the leading service for remote monitoring and ongoing commissioning of building systems. An Infometrics program provides powerful algorithm-based analysis of continuously collected building automation data. Valuable periodic reports enable owners to optimize efficiency and comfort, lower maintenance costs, and effectively manage facility staff and contractors. Multi building results are almost $1 million worth of mostly low or no cost measures and almost $450,000 of savings realized to date.
