BIM for FM: Creating Durable Data for use in Design, Construction, and Facility Management
A review of two demonstration projects for the University of Chicago and the GSA

Peter Rumpf, M.A. Mortenson Company

Over the past couple years construction companies have been working on creating a deliverable for owners that can be leveraged by the owner's operations and facilities management teams. This presentation will describe an engagement with owners and project teams to help define what BIM for FM means, what the best practices for capturing the information are, and what processes are required to better operate and maintain their buildings. This session will provide a general overview of BIM for FM through a review of best practices and lessons learned from two demonstration projects: The University of Chicago Administration Building Project and the 11 Quincy Ct. GSA project.
