Longfellow's Triangle 54 project is envisioned as a vibrant, world-class science and technology campus for innovative companies in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The campus will include a variety of collaborative laboratory, office, and greenhouse facilities as well as unique amenity spaces and lifestyle services.

Triangle 54 will be one of the region's first large-scale life science development properties to consider integrated sustainable and resilient design beyond the typical LEED checklist. The team created project-specific processes, guidelines, and criteria to explore opportunities around carbon, water, people, biodiversity, and climate readiness to achieve the enhanced targets. These methods guided the exploration of new technologies and strategies to streamline the decision-making process and measure success during design.

Join us for a conversation about the lessons learned in analyzing, balancing, and prioritizing the multiple strategies related to central utility plant, microgrid, all-electric system, geothermal, photovoltaic, heat pump, next-gen refrigerant, waste infrastructure, and resiliency all while considering the potential health and wellness impact on occupants through passive strategies and improved environmental biodiversity.

Biographies:

Nathan Zeidler is a Senior Project Manager for Longfellow Real Estate Partners. Nathan is responsible for ensuring design and construction projects are aligned with their vision and goals. His over 20-year career includes a wide variety of complex Life Science & Healthcare projects. Nathan is Registered Architect and a LEED AP.

Jeffery Bottomley is a Principal for Shepley Bulfinch and leads the firm's Durham office and Science and Technology initiatives. With twenty-five years of architectural experience, Jeffery has led diverse teams to deliver, large-scale projects and master plans, including commercial, government, higher education, focusing on science and technology.

Jeff Cappelle, PE, leads NV5’s North Carolina MEP group and is a project manager and senior mechanical engineer. With a career focused on research and mission critical facilities, he has developed a valuable blend of technical expertise and a collaborative style of project leadership. Over his 18-year career, Jeff has delivered solutions for a wide variety of complex, high-performance buildings.
