Presentation of a Combined New Building/Rebuilding Project at a Pharmaceutical Corporation in Germany

Konrad Kreuzer, Waldner, Inc.

During this presentation a combined new building/rebuilding project with an effective area of 24,000 square meters (m²) is introduced. On the basis of this project a new laboratory concept is presented, showing the great freedom in design and the considerable amount of options it provides for the final customer.

During this presentation renovation works combined with a new building at a pharmaceutical corporation in the south of Germany is introduced. The building has an effective area of 12,000 m², of which 5,000 m² are allotted to laboratory furniture. The time period from the award of the contract to the moving in of the entire project was extremely short: just 24 months. As the future utilization was not 100 percent clear and also the system had to be future-oriented, an open space solution was selected. The trades of laboratory furniture, laboratory fume hoods, service technology, power supply, exhaust and supply air technology, as well as light engineering were pooled into one closed system. Due to a comprehensive three-dimensional design it was possible to plan, execute and install this project in a very short period. The customer received a system which he easily can adapt to his needs in no time. The presentation not only describes the planning of this project and its execution, but also shows first experiences. Additionally, the building was combined with high performance fume hoods and equipped with VAV systems and sash closers. Due to cooperation with geothermal energy and cooling, the building complies with the standards set up for highly efficient civil engineering.
