Smart Green Laboratory Buildings at University of California-Irvine: Balancing Energy Savings and Safety
Marc Gomez, University of California-Irvine
Chris Abbamonto, University of California-Irvine
The goal of this project is to create laboratory buildings that utilize half the energy of existing laboratory buildings. The goal will be achieved through a combination of energy initiatives such as Centralized Demand Controlled Ventilation (CDCV), low flow (high-performance) fume hoods, reduced building ventilation exhaust rates, use of energy efficient lighting, and resource-conservation-oriented laboratory safety.
