Conference Overview (29 KB, 1 pp)
As I2SL works to expand the Labs21 Annual Conference, Workshops,
and its own sustainable laboratory initiatives, we looked to you, the
experts in the laboratory community, for your thoughts on various initiatives.
Development of a Global Sustainable Laboratory Council
Hosted by DECHEMA, Fraunhofer Institute, I2SL, Higher
Education Environmental Performance Improvement, and Public Works and
Government Services Canada
This meeting's hosts are considering development of an informal,
international council of laboratory program representatives. The council,
managed by I2SL, would serve to coordinate and streamline the
efforts of individual programs and/or countries and would help advance
sustainable laboratory design throughout Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany,
and beyond.
Labs21 2010 Annual Conference Planning Committee
Hosted by I2SL
As the Labs21 Annual Conference sets its sights on Albuquerque, New Mexico,
we asked you to join us to share your thoughts on how to make the 2010
conference a success. In addition to discussing lessons learned from this
year's event, this lunch meeting provided a great opportunity for
conference organizers to hear how the Labs21 Annual Conference can be
improved to better meet your needs.
Creating Laboratory Facility Guidelines for Planning and Design
Hosted by I2SL and the American Institute of Architects
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and I2SL invited
the Labs21 Community to hear an update on their collaborative project
to create Laboratory Facility Guidelines for Planning and Design. This
project, an update and expansion of the 1999 AIA Guidelines for Planning
and Design of Biomedical Research Laboratories, will provide guidance
for a variety of laboratory types and will include strategies for energy
and environmental sustainability. During this meeting, members of various
guidelines committees convened, along with others who are interested in
participating in this process, and offered an update on funding and discussed
next steps and responsibilities for development of the guidelines.
