From September 28 to 30, 2010, nearly 700 architects, engineers, federal employees, laboratory owners, facility managers, and other laboratory professionals (394 KB, 1 pp) gathered to discuss the latest in sustainable high-technology facility design and construction at the Labs21 2010 Annual Conference. The conference was held at the Albuquerque Convention Center. |
Some attendees arrived on Monday to take a workshop. Others arrived on Tuesday for the start of the formal conference proceedings. |

Dr. Jonathan Trent, a senior scientist at the NASA Ames Research Center, delivered an engaging keynote address on using algae as a fuel source as part of the Opening Plenary Session that formally kicked off the conference. |
Technology Demonstrations, a new and popular feature at this year's conference, allowed exhibitors to explain and demonstrate industry tests, standards, and procedures. |

The Technology and Services Fair Evening Reception provided an ideal opportunity to network; visit exhibitors' booths; and enjoy live music, food, and drinks. |
Morning Roundtables allowed attendees to discuss ideas in a more informal and interactive setting than in the technical sessions. |

A tour of the newly opened New Mexico Scientific Laboratories facility on Wednesday night gave attendees the opportunity to see the inner workings of this state-of-the-art laboratory. Attendees could also elect to tour Sandia National Laboratories on Monday night. |
