After LEED® Gold: The Post Occupancy Evaluation

The purpose of this presentation is to uncover what has worked and what has not worked well in a LEED Gold laboratory teaching/research building, specifically the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences at the University of Rhode Island. The presenters will use a well-documented post occupancy evaluation report to bring this particular project under the microscope.
Biographies:
David Feth has concentrated on university research facilities since joining Payette in 1990. Over the course of his professional career, Mr. Feth has worked on several projects that have been recognized for design and industry award programs, including R&D Magazine's Lab of the Year Award for Middlebury College and an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Art in Architecture award for Duke University. Mr. Feth received his Bachelor of Architecture, cum laude, from Syracuse University and his Masters of Architecture II from Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. A member of the Payette Design Committee and Building Technology Group, Mr. Feth provides strong leadership in design for the young designers office-wide with his management and panel participation on design reviews.
Jim Collins has served as president of Payette since 1998, after joining the firm in 1979. Mr. Collins is an energetic advocate for Payette's design focus and a vital link to Payette's clients. As a practicing architect, Mr. Collins designs research environments in campus settings. Mr. Collins' design elevates the craft of building and is noted for its prototypical inventiveness. Mr. Collins is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he earned both Bachelor of Architecture and Masters of Business Administration degrees with distinction. Mr. Collins was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 2009. In 2003, Mr. Collins was awarded the Rensselaer Alumni Association Fellows Award, honoring an individual of exceptional achievement. Mr. Collins is an active lecturer and has served on numerous design juries, boards, and advisory groups for architectural education.
