Perchloric Washdown—How Much Washdown Is Needed with New Duct Materials?
Peter Gardner, P.E., LEED AP®, BD+C, Torcon, Inc.
Perchloric fume hood exhausts are typically washed down with water on a weekly or monthly basis to remove perchlorates that can be explosive. A lot of effort goes into design and construction of the washdown system and water is used during these washdowns. The roundtable leader will ask participants to provide data on recent installations and any events that could help future designs reduce or eliminate water consumption. The roundtable will review current references that lead to the use of washdown systems.
